Thoughts shatter your world in two

Of Souls and MiraclesPeople see you but they haven't really seen
you yet... they look in your general direction but
don't really see you there. More of, they just catch
the shadow you leave behind. The echo of what is
there. Which is nothing more than a ripple on the
surface; never seeing the treasure that lies mere
inches beneath. Because they are unwilling to wait
they will never see the true miracle you are.

A great loss on their part.

Little DreamerIn the corner of the garden is the tree where dreamers meet

Barefoot   Today I ran barefoot. It's the only way to run. You don't know freedom until you've run without shoes. Without soles weighing you down. Or laces tying you back. Run without inhibitions.

   Today I ran down hills and across busy streets. Feet pounding against hot asphalt. Running through cool, damp, grass. Balancing on curbs. And jogging along walls .

   Today I ran down crowded sidewalks, shoes in hand, not returning glances. Silent questions hang heavy in the air. They watch me as I make my way down the street. I zig-zag past trash bins and over recycle bins. The hurdles of city life.

Do You Know Why A Star Falls?Do you know why a star falls?
That is a star that has given up in defeat
A star that could not out sparkle your eyes
A star that knows greater beauty when it sees it

And the sun rises each morning
In a failed attempt to outshine your smile
Out glow the warmth of your generous heart
But rests each night for it's no match to your soul

And gravity is forever unhalting
Because the earth, like me, is selfish
So selfish as to be craving your presence
But earth, alone, never enough to keep you here

What Is Love?   I'm missing a piece of me. A critical part. I suppose I was born much like every other person. I'm just missing one crucial piece. They've forgotten a heart. Where my heart should be is a cavity with nothing inside except a small black stone. Cold and hard.

   Unfeeling.

   Love. What was it about love? It's what everybody had. What everyone wanted. What everyone spent their entire lives searching for. Everyone, that is, except for me. Love was such an alien topic. A concept I could never grasp. A desire I never felt. Not that I ever felt much.

   Stones don't leave you much in

What If?What if you're making me out to be more than I am?
What if you see beauty and perfection where it's not?
What if it's not enough when I've given all I can?
What if my heart is the only thing I've got?

What if I'm not thin and am emotionally scarred?
What if I'm plain and don't dress in the latest style?
What if I need to hide away when the times get hard?
What if I throw up walls, block you out for a while?

What if because you're far you can love me for who I am?
What if when you're here you judge on what you see?
What if I shrug it off like I just don't give a damn?
What if it's not good enough just being me?

IndefinableDo you know how much I love you?

Picture every beautiful sight in the world.
Every magical place.
Everything amazing about this planet.
Every image that leaves you breathless.
And then picture all of that as being nothing except an empty lot filled with rubbish.
Because it is all rubbish when compared to you.

You may ask how much you mean to me. How much I love you.
But it is impossible to describe in words. Impossible to define.
As impossible as trying to define you with words.
Because no words have yet been created to sum up who you are.
There aren't any words to describe your beauty. Only a million overused metaphors.

I hear the echo of tomorrow and the days that follow

I pretend to be everywhere and nowhere all at once
I feel older than my age yet still a frightened child
I touch the light hidden beneath the darkness
I worry that I'll never mean anything, that I will fade
I cry in the night when there is no one who will hear

I understand how a word can shatter your ex

SearchingTrekked four miles through the hail and rain. Reached my destination and still didn't find what I was searching for. Not that I was all that sure what I was expecting to find. Or if I would even recognize it if I found it. I only know that I was searching.

And so I'm feeling slightly defeated. I wonder if the journey was even worth it. Is it worth the journey if there isn't a destination? Is it worth the search if you come to find nothing? Or is it as people say: "It's not the destination, it's what you learn along the way that matters." If so, then what is it I learned along the way?

Here's all I've been able to come up with:

My Heart In LettersI send all the words that get stuck in my throat
But I'd send you my love if I could
How the pen shakes with every word that I wrote
Words refusing to form as they should

And the ink is smudged black all over the sheet
Where the tears fell all the ink ran
I throw down the notebook, then, in defeat
And soon drop the pen from my hand

I rip out the pages, I tear them, I shred
I'll work on a new note tomorrow
For I can't convey the thoughts in my head
When the pages are drowning in sorrow

Sorrow that's tearing my soul into two
This yearning it rips me apart
Know when I'm sending these letters to you
I'm really just sending my heart

Butterfly WingsIt's funny how with just one glance from you and I can't speak
Just one brief touch and suddenly my knees become so weak
All thoughts become unfocused when I look into your eyes
The color of your eyes alone enough to hypnotize
Your hands more gentle than the flutter of butterfly wings
Your laughter far more beautiful than when the bird dare sings
Your voice, itself, is greater than the grandest symphony
I love you not for all of that but because you love me

It's A Game, A Dance, A Song

It's a game really, with each of us playing our part
I'll hide, try and find me if you care
You ask the questions and I'll dodge around the answers
Cat and mouse, catch me if you can

It's a dance really, back and forth we will flit about
Never settling in one spot too long
We've danced this dance so many times, know every move
Each step is so carefully placed

It's a song you know, each of us a different note
Each just another chord on the guitar
It's when the notes come together that the magic happens
They're no longer a sound but music
